Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) along the border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat on Last night. Last night, the BSF tried to build barbed wire fencing on the zero line of pillars 23 to 28 of the main pillar DMP-8 on the Haripara border. According to the International Border Act, construction of any establishment within 150 yards of the zero line is prohibited, but the BSF started work ignoring this law.
The BGB members forced the BSF to stop the work as soon as the matter came to notice. However, BSF members took position on the border with heavy weapons. In this situation on the border, the BGB also deployed additional members. At present, there is some tension on the border of the two countries.
A flag meeting has been held at the battalion level of both the countries to deal with the situation arising on the border. After the meeting, the work was stopped and the BGB is in a cautious position to ensure the safety of the people of Dahagram Union. On the other hand, members of the Indian Raninagar BSF Battalion are patrolling the border area.
Although the situation on the border is normal at present, there is some unrest among the locals.
