Bangladesh to Establish Its First Drone Manufacturing Facility

The leading Bangladesh company “Sky Bees Limited” announced their investment $45.95 million to set up the first manufacturing plant in the country for UAV at BEPZA Economic Zone. The employment opportunities which will be added to it are a momentous landmark for Bangladesh, as the project is to become operational through the auspices of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and will generate 55 new jobs on site.

The treaty was signed on Thursday in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, with high-ranking officials from both organizations on hand to sign documents after years of negotiations and uncertainty. The managing director of Sky Bees Limited and the executive chairman of BEPZA Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman along with others took part in the event.

The new facility is expected to produce 7,314 UAVs annually, which will serve a variety of sectors, including agricultural pesticide spraying, firefighting, emergency rescue, product delivery, cinematography, and mapping.

During the signing ceremony, Major General Rahman praised Sky Bees Limited’s decision to invest in the BEPZA Economic Zone. He emphasized BEPZA’s dedication to supporting diversified investments, expressing confidence that this project would expand Bangladesh’s high-tech manufacturing capabilities and strengthen the nation’s export potential.

Sky Bees Limited is confident that it will be a key step in leading Bangladesh to the advanced technology and high precision manufacturing. To help meet demand for UAVs in both local and international markets from a range of industries, the company hopes to drive innovation in UAV fabrication.

This volume of investment is a part of the same initiative in BEPZA Financial Zone where total 35 companies signed agreement with BEPZA and pledged to invest USD850.5 million. These endeavors together are expected to have a substantial impact on the economic growth of Bangladesh and help in strengthening its export capacity.

The move is an important milestone in the nations industrialization history as it introduces modern UAV technology that will lead to new prospects for progress, jobs and opened up opportunities in global trade.
